In 2018 Horana Toastmasters club organized the Horana youth Leadership program after the completion of successful meeting in youth Leadership program the youngsters were more excited to continue the toastmasters journey. It was when Prof. Koliya Pulasinghe Organized and guided those youngsters to continue their toastmasters journey by starting this Horana Gavel Club.

In 2018 17th of July after the Youth leadership program under the guidance of Prof. Koliya Pulasinghe this Horana Gavel club was started and our fist president was Sarala Pulasinghe then our second president was Vimuthu Thesara he introduced HGC speech contest to the club then our third president was Rithushan Adithya.

Due to the Pandemic situation in Sri Lanka we were unable to start our club but with the help of past presidents and with the guidance from TM Janeesha Abenayake , TM Dinusha Amuwala and Gavelier Vimuthu Thesara we were able to start out club back again using virtual platforms.

Vimuthu Thesara is a student of NSBM Green University. A proud product of Sri Palee College - Horana. He is the first VP Public Relations of Horana Gavel Club. Second President of Horana Gavel Club. The person who started the HGC speech contest. Winner of HGC speech contest 2019. He was again chosen as the president of this club in 2021. Effective leaders provide clarity, purpose, motivate and guide the organization to realize its mission. Master Vimuthu Thesara our immediate past president is a spectacular character in leadership skills. He always supports, motivates, and mentors each one of us till we give our best, and also he always helps us in many circumstances in the Gavel club forum to move ahead. Since the first day that we joined our club, he always helped us to move forward by correcting us. He took our club and us to a whole new level by making the virtual platform easier than ever and doing what is best for our club as a leader. He gathered the club again and started online meetings after the Covid-19 Pandemic. He showed us the path and guide us. He showed us what a true leader is.
